Streetbank News

Over to You!

For the last two months, Streetbank has been running a photo competition asking members to show us in one beautiful photo: ‘What does community mean to you?’

The shortlist is here and it’s over to you to let us know which photo you think should win. All you have to do is go to our facebook page, browse the four shortlisted pictures and put a comment beneath whichever photo you think should win. Easy? Yes, peasy.

First up there’s Debbie’s pic showing the excellent teamwork taking place in the Goudhurst community as several of her neighbours work together to build a magnificent beacon.

Secondly there’s Sam’s picture reminding us just how brilliant the Jubilee was as an opportunity to celebrate our communities (and do I spy HRH making a sneaky appearance there?)

Thirdly there’s Wali’s photo – we love the message in this mural at Ponders End Youth Club. If that’s just what’s painted on the outside wall, goodness knows what inspirational activities must be taking place inside. Well done PEYC – hats off to you for creating a constant reminder to your community of how important it is to come together.

Finally there’s Becky’s photo of her 3-year old daughter standing amongst just a fraction of the toys that her neighbours donated to raise money for the Children’s Heart Federation. What a brilliant display of generosity.

For those who didn’t make the shortlist, thank you for sharing your pics. It’s been fascinating to find out what inspires Streetbank members when they think ‘community’ and we’ve enjoyed looking at everyone’s images a great deal.

For now, it’s time to get voting on who you think best captures ‘community’ so check out the four shortlisters here and get voting!

The winning photo has been announced and it’s really rather beautiful! Not surprising then that it received a whopping 70 votes… Check Wali’s photo out here: www.facebook.com/streetbank
