Large skip

Jump in a skip

"My friend John can’t resist a skip. He is simply incapable of walking past one, at any time of day or night, without peering over the side. Inevitably, he ends up in it, and goes home with a plank, a half tin of paint, or a length of wire. Last week I met him in the street with a discarded computer tower under one arm. He had found it on the kerb, and it’s now in a collection of computers to be refurbished.

What does John do with all these salvaged and recycled items? He fixes them up and gives them away on Streetbank of course.

It’s amazing what people will throw away that’s still perfectly useable or ripe for reinvention. I once made a friend a cage for a chinchilla out of fridge shelves that I found in an alley. So take a look in those skips, and see what can be redeemed."

My partner and I are both skip scavengers, and have liberated any amount of serviceable wood(for DIY), a small, very efficient vacuum cleaner, some beautiful Victorian tiles- the list goes on……what a shame that the skip owners didn’t know about this site!

some people think this could be an illness but how good is it when you give it away to some one that can make use of it and often you receive some thing back from some one els I think this will be a well used site when there are more members to interact with and it is free
